I did cheer at Tony and Maya’s “We’re going to die! Quick! Snog!” I was glad that it was finally over. Is there a contractual thing where Nick Tate must show off his chest hair? Every time Alan is in Space Pyjamas his manly manly chest is out in force. I wince every time the monster smashes up a lab and that big oscilloscope gets chucked onto the floor. One thing I did like was that Maya the Mouse goes “Squeak! Squeak!” How does Maya’s the Bee’s brain have the cognitive power to carry off the plan “fly into the robot’s ear and destroy circuitry without electrocuting yourself”? Does Maya the Mouse really know the way to Hydroponics? Next week Maya the Amoeba hot-wires a nuclear reactor.
Why didn’t she transform into her ginormous green Space Yeti? It was certainly big enough to go toe-to-toe with the robot. I have issues with Maya’s transformations.
Why is it the BETA Cloud? Is this ever explained? Is it just a cool sci-fi sounding name? Perhaps, as an adult, I enjoyed it because Koenig was tranqed-up for most of the episode. As a kid I felt real tension at the unstoppability of the monster. It’s a big dumb episode, but entertaining enough.
